10 years in jail for 2 men forcing a woman into prostitution
Abu Dhabi/ Two men who were convicted of trafficking a woman and forcing her into prostitution have had their ten-year-jail sentences upheld by the Federal Supreme Court.

Official court records stated that the Asian men lured the woman into coming to the UAE after promising her a job.

The men had allegedly told her that she would work in a hospital, but when she reached here, they kept her in an apartment in Ajman for a month and later forced her to have sex with various men after collecting cash from them.

The woman told prosecutors that the accused often beat her up and threatened to harm her family back home if she refused to work as a prostitute.

After a few months in detention at the men's house, the woman said she managed to escape from the traffickers and went to police.

The police went and arrested the Asians after the woman filed her complaint.

The Public Prosecution had charged the Asian men with human trafficking and assaulting the victim, which caused her a permanent disability and a fracture in her right knee.

The men had denied the charges.

Both the First Instance and Appeal Courts sentenced the Asians to ten years in jail after they found them guilty on all counts.

The men challenged the rulings to UAE's top court, which has rejected their appeal and maintained earlier verdicts by lower courts.

The Supreme Court judge issued his ruling based on evidence presented by prosecutors.

The men will be deported after serving their jail sentences.
