The Ewa'a Shelters for victims of human trafficking were created to receive victims of human trafficking. It is one of only a few establishments in the UAE specialising in this field.
The shelters have strict receiving procedures to avoid confusion between their responsibilities and those of other organisations.
- No direct receipt of victims is made to protect the confidentiality of the shelters locations as well as the victims and the employees.
- The shelters receive the victims in co-ordination with the authorities which has registered the victims for refuge, such as the Red Crescent Authority, embassies, hospitals, places of worship, similar centres, and other concerned authorities.
- Victims are also received through the hotline calls.
